This painting is a beautiful representation of a vision; a true spirit. To me, he appears to be a man, almost Aboriginal in his features. What amazes me is that he seems to morph into whomever the viewer is receptive to seeing. I have had people tell me “Returning” looks like a woman to them. To me, that is the true measure of success, when a painting becomes the viewer’s vision, rather than mine.
