Ghosted Woman was one of the first paintings I made using the glazing technique that seems to lend itself so well to describing spirits. She had a number of transitions during the process, but feels to me now as though she is made of feathers. I imparted a sense of texture, even though the paint is quite smooth to the touch. She feels to me as if she has come from an earlier time; perhaps 18th or early 19th century. There is something refined and formal about her stature, perhaps stemming from my sense that she is a beauty from long ago.
