This encaustic and mixed media painting was made in 2011 and originated as an abstraction. After looking at the piece for a while, I noticed a white dappled horse emerging from the background; its head turned backward. Other people have seen a human figure; others, two horses. Part of the mystery of encaustic is identifying what seems to emerge from beneath the layers of wax. I continue to revel in the wonder of the unknown. What do you see?
